Pony Matty (Badi)
Self-Defense Instructor

Pony Badi started training in MMA, with a focus on Mauy Thai and grappling, in 1998, along with training in many kinds of heavy weaponry. She has also worked as a tattoo artist for 18 years. She has advocated for sexually abused children while being a kinship parent for many years. She is a member of Mensa and studied at Princeton Choir College and in the biochemistry program at MIT. She is a doting mother to 6 blended children.

In her personal life she enjoys playing her violin and Cello as well as gardening. She also sews and participates in the Society for Creative Anachronisms.

Logan Sohma PRS
Peer Support Program Director

Logan’s 8 years of experience interacting with the public in consumer-oriented industries have given him strong skills in communication, deescalation , and conflict resolution. In addition, he is well acquainted with the issues plaguing the LGBT community, largely due to being transgender himself. Logan is also a certified peer recovery supporter (PRS) so as  to be better equipped to guide those who need it down a path toward mental health and addiction recovery.

In his spare time, he enjoys playing with his cat, writing poetry, and smacking his friends with foam swords. It’s consensual.

Andrea Fahey
Executive Director

Andrea Gail Fahey is the spark behind Spectrum Diversity Community Center. She is a thirty year old trans woman and the co-founder, Chair of the Board, and Executive Director of a nonprofit she helped build from the ground up. With a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Mount Union and experience as the chief of operations for the Akron Regional Chamber Orchestra she leads Spectrum’s family proudly. She came out as a transgender woman in 2016. To this day she helps her fellow community members in any way she can.

Andy Karas
Chief Financial Officer

Andy Karas is Spectrum Diversity’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO). By day, he worked as an attorney at Fair Shake Environmental Legal Services where he practiced environmental law, defending regular people's’ right to clean the air, water, and land. He was also an active member of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), serving as the treasurer of the organization’s Akron chapter as well as being involved with the Legal and Eco-socialist Working Groups. In addition, he is a part of the National Lawyers Guild.

Away from work, Andy enjoys the great outdoors, the great indoors, cooking, playing soccer, losing at chess, and using his guitars to torture his neighbors.

Niki Sutcliffe
Director of Operations

Nikki Sutcliffe has always stuck up for the under dog, and that extends to her work for Spectrum Diversity today. She’s been a clinic escort since 2016, is the co-chair of Akron DSA, and is a great ally to many marginalized groups such as LGBTQIA, African Americans, and the homeless. She received her Bachelor's in Science Education from Eastern Michigan University in 2002, and used to work as a science teacher. Currently, she’s a stay at home mom to her four year old boy. She loves the Detroit Red Wings hockey and enjoys cooking at home.

Phoenix Austin

Phoenix Graham Austin is a 27 year old non-binary trans man. Originally from Florida, Phoenix moved to Ohio after a winding trip across the United States. He settled in Ohio, quickly realizing the financial and logistical nightmare of transitioning climates, he became deeply involved with Community Threads as a way to help LGBT+ individuals who have suddenly found themselves ill equipped to handle the Ohio climate.
